Jen Hurler is a writer, student, and aspiring animation historian and producer.

Jen’s writing on animation can be found over at her site, Animation Complex, as well as an article over at Cartoon Brew.

Currently, Jen is a student working towards her MFA in computer animation at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.

Prior to that, she worked as a production assistant at Blue Sky Studios for four years, earning credits on The Peanuts Movie (2015), Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), Ferdinand (2017), and the upcoming Nimona (2020). 

Jen has previous experience as a freelance producer and production coordinator in NYC, and as well as involvement in SIGGRAPH conferences, WIA NYC, and the Producers Guild of America East. 

She holds a BA in Interactive Multimedia from The College of New Jersey, where she focused on cinema studies and production, with particular interest in animation history and screenwriting. While attending, she interned at Focus Features, where she worked on promotional material for films like Moonrise Kingdom and ParaNorman, as well as write lots of script coverage.
